Asgore

Desde que tuve la maravillosa experiencia de jugar Undertale, muchos de los personajes se convirtieron en mis favoritos instantáneos. Quizá el personaje que más me gustó de todos fue Asgore.

Since I had the amazing experience of playing Undertale, many of its characters were my instant faves. But maybe the character I loved the most is Asgore. 

Sin embargo, me da tristeza ver que en el fandom la mayoría lo malinterpreta horriblemente, y lo tienen quizá en uno de los conceptos más bajos y equivocados. En mi opinión, es quizá el protagonista más subestimado de todo el juego y el más terriblemente maltratado. Lo que muchos fans no ven es que todos los personajes (a excepción de Papyrus) cometen decisiones terribles y muy cuestionables (sí, incluyendo a Toriel) pero por alguna razón se ensañan con Asgore (poniéndolo como alguien peor que el propio Chara, quien en verdad es posiblemente el más terrible de los personajes en cuanto a acciones).

However, it saddens me to see how the fandom misinterprets him horribly and how many have the worst opinion about him. In my opinion, he is one of the most underrated characters of the game and the most mistreated one. What many fans can't see is that actually all the protagonists (except Papyrus) make really bad and highly questionable decisions (including Toriel); but for some reason most of the hate goes to Asgore (putting him as someone worse than Chara, who is probably the most terrible of the characters action-wise).

Por lo que he visto, esto tiene algo qué ver con la guerra de las parejas (ship wars) puesto que Asgore intervendría directamente en detrimento de un posible romance entre Toriel y Sans. Es como si, para destruir cualquier buen concepto que permitiera volver a emparejarlo con su esposa, hay que hablar lo peor de él, con tal de que a nadie se le ocurra que Toriel puede volver con él (o al menos ser su amiga). Afortunadamente parece que eso se está revirtiendo y que estos fans rabiosos de Soriel (que afortunadamente eran minoría) ya se han calmado un poco y han permitido que el personaje, a casi dos años del lanzamiento del juego, reciba una mejor percepción.

As far as I've perceived it, all of this sometimes have something to do with the ship wars, as for Asgore could get in the path of a possible romance between Toriel and Sans. It is like if the fans were trying to destroy any possible good trait of Asgore so no one could ever dare to thin that Toriel can be with him again (at least as his friend). Luckily, this trend seems to being reverted and those rabid Soriel fans (whose fortunately were not majority) are calming a little so Asgore, after two years of the release of the game, is getting a better perception.

En fin, que mucho se puede decir del juego y su fandom, de Asgore y de los personajes, pero sin duda él es y siempre será mi favorito (seguido de Papyrus, que es un corazón en forma de esqueleto). 

Anyway, there are so many things that can be said about the game and the fandom, about Asgore ad the characters, but he is and always will be my favorite (followed closely by Papyrus, that is the purest heart in the form of a skeleton).

Otra cosa curiosa es que su canción es una de las que más me gusta (seguida de la de Bonetrousle, el tema de Papyrus).

On a curious note, Asgore's theme is the song of the game I liked the most (also followed closely by Papyru's theme: Bonetrousle).
